If you don’t fancy a big church wedding, a civil wedding may be what you are looking for. A civil wedding ceremony can be performed by the mayor or some other person authorised by the mayor. You have a free choice of which municipality you prefer for your wedding. Normally, the wedding ceremony takes place in the beautiful municipal wedding hall in Anton Rosens Hus in Tranebjerg, but the mayor may allow the wedding ceremony to be held in a location of your own choice.

Ballebjerg

A fantastic wedding requires a perfect ending. Therefore, find a romantic place for your overnight stay when the wedding party is over.
If possible, it would be an obvious choice for the married couple and their guests to spend the night at the same place as the party.
Spending the night together at the same place as the wedding party is held solves many problems. Nobody needs to consider how to get home safe after a festive evening. Married couples won’t have to agree as to how the party should end. Children can be tucked away when they get tired.

If you wish for a special kind of transport to and from the wedding ceremony, Samsø offers several options of transport in style on the wedding day.
Veteran Bus
One possibility is transport in the smart veteran bus Chevrolet Six from 1934, which is “The Bus” from the Dirch Passer film of the same name. The bus was in service on Samsø up to 1970 when it was sold out of the island. The old bus survived and ended up in Germany and forgotten about until Svend Larsen, from Ballen on Samsø, found the bus was for sale – and immediately brought the old bus back to the island. The bus accommodates a maximum of 16 passengers giving guests the opportunity to join in a nice, idyllic bus ride.

Exalibur Roadster
There is also a possibility of transport in style on a romantic ride to and from the church in the smart car named Exalibur Roadster from 1982. The car seats 2 persons + “mother-in-law-back seat”. The car can be rented with or without a chauffeur. An obvious choice for a married couple!

Horse and Carriage
Transport by horse and carriage at a leisurely pace is a possibility, giving the newly wed couple an opportunity to enjoy each other while driving through the scenic landscape of Samsø. Samsø Downhill offers horse and carriage transport to and from the wedding ceremony. They have 3 carriages at their disposal accommodating about 20 persons, so if this is what you want, the guests can be transported by horse and carriage.

Nordby Parish Civic Association has tables and chairs available for rent at favourable prices. Tables and chairs are stored at Samsø Private Independent School where they can be picked up and returned.
